Why do People File Whiplash Injury Claims?

A recent study was done to evaluate injuries that were sustained to the neck. This study is categorized by pain felt by each individual, disabilities and interruption of work. The participating groups were identified by age, sex, and the amount of time since injury. This may help you in your whiplash injury claims and what to consider when filing your claim. Here are the categories and the results:

  • Group 1. These patients were treated by immobilization with a cervical collar (a medical collar that goes around the neck to prevent any further damage to the neck and spinal cord, and promotes healing). This was used as the group to "set the curve" - variable A group, which was the basis of comparison for other groups. In the time frame of January 1998 to 2000 (2 full years), the ones practicing this test could only reach 20 (80%) of 25 people with sustained fractures of the cervical spine that were stable. 15%, or 3, or these people were female. The average age of persons in this group was 30.5 years old, all ranging between 16 years and 68 years old. The average follow up time was 45 months, the distinguishing time exaggerations being 12 months to 62 months. Injuries for this group included fractures in the vertebrae of the spine, spinal process and facet joints. None of these 20 patients were involved in whiplash injury compensation claims, but perhaps they could have been,
  • Group 2. 20 patients who had unstable fractures that affected the neck. These required surgery to correct. 3 patients, 15%, had more than one fracture in their vertebrae. 70% of the group, or 14 people, suffered dislocations due to fractures. Most of these were between vertebrae 6 and 7 and may require long-term treatment, which could be financed privately in whiplash injury claims.
  • Group 3. This group contained 20 patients suffering from whiplash injuries looking to be awarded compensation in whiplash injury claims. They were interviewed for legal purposes pertaining to medical treatment and whiplash injury claims
  • Group 4. Patients in this group, consisting of 20, suffered from whiplash injuries but had never filed whiplash injury claims or their claims had been settled already. These patients were being treated for something other than neck injuries at the fracture clinics they derived from.

All patients in every group (80 in total) had been involved in a rear end or rear/side impact vehicle accident. At the time of the injury, every patient had had an x-ray taken, and all of them appeared normal. The results showed there were really no strong differences between neck injuries in different ages, genders, races, creeds or anything. Anyone may at some point have reason to file whiplash injury claims

No matter who you are, if you have been involved in a car accident, and you think you may have a neck injury, you should consider looking into whiplash injury claims. You don't know what could happen to you 3 years from now because of a small fracture you acquired and didn't know about. You can and will get compensation for everything, if you can prove the accident wasn't your fault, you have adequate proof pertaining to your whiplash injury claims, and possibly eyewitness accounts with a police report. Hire a "No win, no fee" solicitor to fight your case for you - you deserve to at least have your medical bills (if you have private coverage) covered and the time you have to take off of work compensated for if you have to file whiplash injury claims.
